Breastmilk and Breastfeeding, A Simple Guide

This is a short guide to some of the facts about breastmilk and why breastfeeding matters for babies, mums and the world we live in. It is not a “how-to” guide to breastfeeding. For practical help with breastfeeding, ask your midwife, health visitor or contact your local peer support network or one of the organisations listed on page 9. Although we use the terms breastfeeding, breastmilk and mother in this document, we acknowledge that not all lactating parents use the terms mother, breastmilk and breastfeeding.
